Supposedly Straight Man Caught Reading Yaoi

(Rueters) - Robert Winters of 12 Stockholm Court, Pawtucket Rhode Island, was caught holding an unsealed copy of Black Sun volume 2 in a Books a Million store at 2:43pm on Sunday, December 7th. Winters, a middle-aged man who claims to be heterosexual, flipped through no less than 8 pages of the graphic novel before returning it to the shelf.

“He’d obviously figured out what the book was, but kept on looking through it,” said Yaoi News reporter Ginger Vitus. “He was making confused faces over the content, but I think that’s because he knew he was being filmed.”

When confronted the stunned Winters claimed he had no idea what the book was and was just killing time while his wife was at the salon. Our reporter brought the news team to the nearby salon to question Mrs. Winters over the incident. Below is a transcript of the exchange:

Vitus: Are you Mrs. Winters? What is your reaction to your husband reading yaoi in the Books a Million?

Winters: Reading what? Who are you people?

Vitus: He was reading yaoi. A most extreme yaoi, if I might say so.

Winters: What on Earth is yaoi?

Vitus: I think you know, Mrs. Winters, and our readers deserve to know whether you plan to divorce your husband over this or if you plan to continue with your sham marriage.

Winters: Sham marriage? Get out of here! You people are insane.

Our reporter later caught Mr. Winters crossing the Books a Million parking lot. After a significant struggle the contents of Mr. Winters’ shopping bag were revealed: the Sports Illustrated Swim Suit edition, an issue of Field and Stream, and a copy of I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou.

“The artsy fartsy book was a dead giveaway that Mr. Winters was indeed gay,” said Vitus. “I asked him whether he was a seme or an uke. He made me explain the terms–as if he didn’t already know them. Before I could finish my explanation he clocked me." Vitus smiled, revealing her two missing teeth. "He’s definitely a seme.”
