About Yaoi Haters by anti-yaoi-haters

Hello class, for today's lesson, I will tear apart this user's argument piece by piece, and identify the fallacies that exist.

Here we go.

FIRST LINE

You say that these yaoi haters are homophobic. So, I hate yaoi, does that mean I'm homophobic? NO. I have gay, lesbian, bisexual, and heterosexual friends, and I advocate gay rights. Supporting these things is no where near homophobic. Homophobic means that you despise all relationships that involved a person fancying the same sex, and you only approve of heterosexual relationships. Not liking yaoi is a personal preference, everyone can either like or dislike it.

Fallacies found - 5: Over simplification, hasty generalization, ad hominem, appeal to ridicule, and appeal to spite.

SECOND LINE

Not all video game characters are gay. Most videogames have a plot to them, in which character development and a whole series of events takes place that helps mold the characters to what their creators wish them to be. To say that every videogame character is gay, when there is solid proof that most of the characters are heterosexual, is a mix of arrogance and ignorance. Some well known books and movies also have videogame spinoffs, such as The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. Does this mean that Aragorn and Harry are homosexual?

Fallacies found - 2: Argument from ignorance and burden of proof.

THIRD LINE

Saying that your opinion is superior is the ultimate killer for your argument. No one's opinion is superior. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, you cannot change someone's opinion. Just because someone does not like the same thing as you do, does not mean that they are wrong and you are right or vice versa. We are human beings with the capability to think, process thoughts, and speak our minds. You can't control the way that people think, therefore, your opinion is in no way superior.

Fallacies found - 3: Moral high ground, faulty generalization, and appeal to authority.

FOURTH LINE

You are saying your opinion, speaking what you think. That's fine. It's your opinion, I cannot control it. But when you say things such as "Its [sic] drawn better, has better characters, and of course," people will want to know where you get your sources from. If you do not give sources, people will find the proof for themselves, or discredit your argument altogether. And if they do try to find the proof themselves, their expectations are different from yours; therefore, their opinion will be different from yours.

Fallacies found - 5: Over simplification, hasty generalization, red herring, false attribution and burden of proof

FIFTH LINE

No relationship has more meaning than another in real life. In a person's subjective opinion, yes. In an objective stance, no. Every relationship has their pros and cons, the orientation of the relationship does not matter in the slightest. Yaoi is not even a relationship - it's porn. That is all it is. It is also an overwhelming stereotype, and it is that same stereotype that drives people further and further away. And by the way, just because you say it in all capital letters, does not make it true or your opinion and argument more credible.

Fallacies found - 5: Burden of proof, circular reasoning, incomplete comparison, post hoc ergo propter hoc, and appeal to emotion.

CONCLUSION

You are either:

A) A very selfish, ignorant, immature, and arrogant brat

or B) An outright failure of a troll.

If you are Type A: Get over yourself. People are going to disagree with you your whole life. People have different opinions on everything, it is impossible to have the same exact opinion as another. If you cannot handle that fact, then you should not be allowed on the Internet, because people, myself as an example, will tear you to shreds.

If you are Type B: While you're entertaining, you are no fun to disprove. Go research on how to be a good troll and then come back with a substantial argument that will be harder for me to poke holes in and point out fallacies.
