$15/page: Post-Yaoi Comics and Illustration Anthology
PURITY: The "Post-Yaoi" Anthology is uniting artists with a shared history of reading yaoi and LGBT+ comics and giving them an opportunity to explore the influence of their past readership on their art in the present day. Now, with the help of backers on Kickstarter, supporters can enjoy a collection of exclusive comics and illustrations in an all-new print anthology!
We are looking for grayscale (black and white) comics between 2 and 8 pages, and standalone illustrations, either 1 page or a 2 page spread.
All artists are welcome, provided they are over 18 years of age. Furthermore, a legal name is only required for our artist contracts: you may use a nickname in the book. Group projects are accepted; please see the website for details. You may submit multiple pitches.
Purity wants artists to feel that they’re putting their best foot forward. Therefore, the definition of “purity” is really up to you! This is an adult anthology, but your work does not need to be pornographic or even “erotic” if you think that boxes you in. You tell us, through your submission, what you think you have to offer. It can be a slice-of-life, sci-fi, historical, the works! That said, this anthology cannot accept:
Hateful speech (cissexism, racism, sexism, body-shaming, etc.) Non-consensual sexual content of any kind Graphic violence or extreme gore (ask us if you’re unsure!) Depictions of excrement Instructional use of real-world controlled substances Depictions of minors in suggestive situations Fan-comics or any art featuring licensed characters Content which was first published elsewhere
You retain all the rights to original characters, and we receive exclusive publishing rights—digital and traditional—for one year from the official premiere date, and reprint rights from then on. You never lose your intellectual property rights for anything you produce or submit to us. Once the year is up, you also can reprint your work wherever you would like in whatever format you like, and even re-sell the rights as long as they do not interfere with our pre-existing reprint rights.
Completed submissions will be due August 1, 2015 as to ensure a timely release of the final volume.
