Sheik's Gender

[Sheik is an Epic Trap.]

People are always arguing about Sheik's gender. Mainly because some people think Sheik is a male, That Zelda changed her sex.But if you check why Nintendo calls Sheik a "her" its because she really is a female.

[THE OCARINA OF TIME MANGA]

One of the main excuses people keep using over and over again is the Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time manga.

The Sheik from the manga is supposed to be a male and its own person. But the Zelda manga does not count. Its *Non Canon* which means, its not part of the real ocarina of time story nor part of the creator of Zelda.

Therefore, the Sheik from the manga does not count. But some people do not want to understand that, and don't want to admit it. They are very stubborn or just like ignoring the fact that the manga is non canon.

One more thing about the manga.

In the manga, it never states that Zelda "transforms" into a male.

What it saids is that Impa put Zelda's consciousness to sleep.

And is only made to think she is a boy:

"Live now as a boy! " She said live not turn into a boy. Impa made Zelda believe she was a Sheikah boy to survive and to not expose herself. That's the reason she still covers her face and hides the Triforce mark as well. Not to mention she also binds her chest.          

And in one of the chapters it tells you how Sheik's body is very light and delicate. Link is the one who actually said it:

Yes, a very delicate body. A female body Link. That's why you got all flustered.When Link is carrying Sheik, you can see how Sheik's body is a lot smaller and slimmer then Link's own body.

Then when Sheik awakes she instantly covers her chest with one of her arms. Sheik is also shorter then Link in the video game.

In Smash Bros Brawl, Sheik has breasts.

Even though super smash bros is also not canon like the manga, If Sheik was really male, why would brawl add breasts to Sheik if she is suppose to be a male?

Its as if Link was male in Ocarina of time, and then suddenly in brawl he has breasts? That wouldn't make sense.

In Super Smash Bros Melee states that the magic used to change Zelda's form affected only her skin, hair and eye color. where as the Brawl trophy states that she remained female throughout the entirety of Ocarina of Time.

"This is Zelda's alter ego. Using a variation of the name of the ancient Sheikah tribe, she appears before Link and teaches him melodies instrumental to his success.

It's believed that she's not just a quick-change artist, but rather that she is able to instantaneously alter her clothing and her eye and skin color by using her magical skills."

[SHEIK'S VOICE]

Another excuse is saying Sheik's voice is male.

 

No, its not. The one who makes the voice of Princess Zelda is a Japanese actress named  Jun Mizusawa.  And guess who makes Sheik's voice? Jun Mizusawa as well.

Jun Mizusawa made the voice of Zelda & Sheik in: Ocarina of time, Melee and Brawl.

Sheik and Zelda both share the same voice actor as they are the same person. So the argument to use "Sheik has a different voice" is just useless. Zelda muffled her voice behind the scarf she wears when she was Sheik.

Another main reason is because of how Sheik looks like in the official art along with the Sheik in Melee as well.

"Sheik is male because Sheik has a manly body figure"  

OH REALLY?

Well, have you ever seen athletic woman bodies? Here are some examples. The bodies you see below look exactly like Sheik's body:

Compare them, the chest, the arms, the legs and shoulders with Sheik's.

When you have the body of an athletic woman, you lose the "fat" that your breasts contain. So you become flat chested and even look like you have the chest of a man. In Zelda's case, she made her breasts even more flat by adding bandages. Sheik has the body of a athletic female exactly like in the examples above.

Seeing how Sheik is also missing a bulge.

There is only one major feature that makes a man a man, and it is definitely not there. I mean shes wearing spandex.

You would of been able to tell. You can tell on Ganondorf..and its scary.

She may not have breasts but notice how she has female thighs. And again no bulge.

Another thing: People keep on arguing about the "feminine body structure" compared with the "masculine body structure;" but what is feminine/masculine body structure?

The first two could easily be the same shape as a male's body. The second figure has the shape of an athletic female and Sheik has that type of body. The Apple figure.

Ocarina Of Time Zelda did not have as much of a chest like Twilight Princess Zelda had. While Twilight princess Zelda actually had some breasts. Zelda kept hidden her breasts by wrapping them with bandages.

Ocarina Of Time Zelda had it much easier to hide them since she was flat. That may be why we are able to actually tell the breast of Brawl Sheik. Harder to hide.

Zelda easily wrap around some nice bandage really thight and then can look like pecs. Especially when you have the body of an atlethic female. You have no fat in your breasts at all.

 

[SHEIK HIDES HER FACE FOR A REASON]

Why Would Sheik grow a penis and then still have to hide her face by covering it up? And wear bandages around the chest?

Because she doesn't change into a male. She has to hide herself completely. She was still at risk of being found out even with the different appearance.

She doesn't turn into a boy. That is the very reason she avoids Link in the game as well. Every time when he tries getting near her, she would blind him with deku nuts and leaves. Because Link could have recognized her.

[SHEIK AND ZELDA ARE THE SAME PERSON]

All along she was herself and NOT some other person, She was just wearing a disguise and acting/pretending to be someone else to not be exposed and be able to continue helping Link. That is the very reason she knows what Link's name is in the start of the game.

And before Sheik did expose herself to Link, you could tell that she was starting to act her self even more when she met Link again at the Temple Of Time where she was about to show Link that it really was her, Zelda.

There is absolutely no evidence to support the theory that they are separate people. People just don't want to admit that she is Zelda. Their in denial.

Only differences is that Zelda wears make up on.

[Various clues were left in Ocarina Of Time that connects Zelda to Sheik]

1. A Gossip Stone says that Princess Zelda is a tomboy, which would explain why she chose to make Sheik a boy.

"They say that, contrary to her elegant image, Princess Zelda of Hyrule Castle is actually a tomboy!"

That also shows how Zelda is a strong female character and not a weak girly one, she was able to wait for the hero of time for 7 long years on her own.

Miyamoto once told in an interview Zelda represents strong woman.

When you show Young Zelda a mask from the happy mask salesman, she tells you how it must be exciting wearing a mask while getting passed the guards.

She saids it as she wishes she could be doing that as well. Sneaking around without being discovered. And she does just that as Sheik.

2. Impa is the last of her race and would be the only one who could teach Zelda the ways of the Sheikahs.

Maybe that is why when Zelda was escaping the castle with Impa, Zelda was able to throw the Ocarina Of Time so well at Link..

A little girl throwing a item from far away while riding a horse at full speed would have to have some kind of training.

3. Zelda tells Link straight out that she was Sheik:

Seriously, she TELLS you herself she was Sheik all along and that she was in disguise to hide from Ganondorf.

This shows how she was fully aware that she was in disguise and was not in anyway a separate person from Sheik like the manga.

And even so, in the manga it does not say she turns into a boy, it just saids she is made to think she is a boy.

4. In Smash Bros along with Nintendo itself whenever they talk about Sheik they refer Sheik as a "Her" only or as "Zelda".

One of the other big excuses is about Princess Ruto.

Ruto referred Sheik as a he when she was telling Link that Sheik had saved her.

Ruto also referred Sheik as a he when she asked Link to give Sheik her thanks for saving her.

[There are 2 possibilities]

1. Ruto did NOT know that Sheik was really Princess Zelda in disguise.

And of course Ruto would think Sheik was a male. Zelda was able to fool Ganon for 7 long years. Why wouldn't Ruto fall for it as well?

That's the whole point of being in disguise. She has to fool everyone.

Ruto could only sense that Zelda was alive, but couldn't tell where she was.

If your going to hide from someone you might as well hide from everyone! The only sages i believe knew that Zelda was Sheik was Impa and Rauru.

2.If  Ruto did know that Sheik was Zelda, then the reason she called Sheik a he was to not expose the truth about Sheik actually being Princess Zelda in disguise.

 

[SHEIK IS JUST A DISGUISE]

In the Hyrule Historia scans it points out how Zelda was just wearing a disguise and pretending to be Sheik:

1. "The leader of the sages was Princess Zelda, who bore the Triforce of Wisdom in her hand. Zelda had been waiting for this moment to reveal to Link that she was Sheik."

2. "Princess Zelda had no other option but to wait for Link’s seal to break. In order to escape from the Demon King, she impersonated a young Sheikah boy and kept her identity hidden under the name of Sheik."

3. "Princess Zelda, as Sheik, played the harp and gave advice to Link. The mission entrusted to Link was to break the curse in 5 temples and wake up the sages."

4. "Princess Zelda taught Link special songs with her harp in order to

guide him to the temples."

Notice how they say "Zelda" or "Princess Zelda" they never just simply say "sheik". Its because they are talking about one single character. Not 2 characters separated. Its like when you are cosplaying and role playing, Your just simply pretending to be a character but that doesn't mean you turn into the character itself or it makes you a boy. The disguise is suppose to be a male, lets get that straight. But the issue here is that people keep arguing that Zelda changed her sex (as in she grew a penis) and that Sheik is a different person.

Zelda has magical abilities. Not to mention the power she has by possessing the Triforce of Wisdom. She is good at disguising herself and role playing. How difficult is that to understand.

[Weird Reason]

There is also this story where people keep saying "sheik was a warrior from the past who died" or "sheik was impas brother who died and came to aid Zelda in her time of need" and that Zelda turned herself into that dead sheikah to hide from the king of evil.

WHAT. SERIOUSLY WHERE ON EARTH DID YOU GET THAT FROM?

[YAOI REASON]

One of the other main reasons some people, notice i said SOME. Think and want Sheik to be a male, is just to draw their Yaoi fan art (boy's love fan art) of Sheik and Link doing dirty stuff to each other. Which is fine its their preference if they like that sort of thing. But this is one of the reasons as well some dislike the fact that Sheik is Zelda. They just simply don't want Sheik to be Zelda. Some because they have a crush on Sheik and think Sheik is hot and the moment the realized she was Zelda is a big NO for them.

[The Language]

Another reason people say Sheik is a male is because of their language. If you have played the game in another language like Japanese for example. You will refer Sheik as a "he" because the disguise is based on a male but its just a disguise, like Zelda wearing a mask. Zelda only changed her appearance but not her sex.

[THE PLAYER'S GUIDE OF OCARINA OF TIME]

Saying Sheik is a male because of the "Players Guide for OoT"

"The player guide of Ocarina of Time calls Sheik a man"

Honestly, Like I've said before, they grab any little excuse they can get.

First of all, the player guide is meant for new players. Not for experienced players.

Just because a simple little player's guide calls Sheik a he, Doesn't mean its confirming Sheik's gender. The player guide is meant for new people who haven't played the game and are playing Ocarina of time for the very first time. They can't call Sheik a her in the player guide or else that would spoil that Sheik is really a female and then reveal that she is Zelda in disguise! That would spoil the whole game plot for the new players of this generation who have just started the game.

Player guides aren't suppose to give out spoilers. They aren't for that.

They call Sheik a male to prevent spoilers to those new players who have not played the game yet. Shouldn't that be obvious by now?

They did this the first time Ocarina of Time was released way back in 1998. They only called Sheik in the player's guide a he while the game was still fresh and new and barley going to be released.

Then later,  began calling Sheik a her since everyone had already played the game and passed it back then. So everyone already knew who Sheik truly was.

They did this it again with the Ocarina of time 3DS version. Really, just look at how many times has Nintendo called Sheik a female. Its very dumb of people to use an excuse coming from a simple player's guide.

The players guide is not suppose to give out spoilers of the game at all. Its not suppose to do that. 

So what? you were expecting it to say Sheik's gender? No, its just suppose to be a player's guide and spoil free for new players. Simple as that.

[THE OCARINA MANGA..AGAIN.]

Some people are trying to use Eiji Aonuma's article as an excuse to make sheik a man. Someone told me and a friend of mine:

"The Ocarina of Time manga is canon because Eiji Aonuma saids in an article that the manga's story fills the holes from the story of ocarina of time that didn't make it in the game. Which is the reason it makes it canon."

What does that have to do with Sheik? Now if you think about it, Eijin never mention Sheik in that article.

However, in Eiji Aonuma's interview by Kotaku in November 2009 before Spirit Tracks got released, he does mention Sheik and look what he actually said:

"We recently received information from a survey conducted in the US that indicated that, among our female characters, users had a preference for those that were more on the independent side, such as Sheik and Tetra."

Eijin Aonuma himself called Sheik a female.

[NINTENDO CONFIRMS SHEIK'S GENDER..AGAIN.]

Like Nintendo already hasn't many times. A friend of mine sent a message to Nintendo asking what Sheik's gender was.

And he got a reply. And the reply is shown below:

The First question my friend asked was about Sheik's Trophies.

Then the second question he asked was if Sheik's gender was female or male. And as you can see, they replied saying Sheik is a FEMALE.

[ANOTHER OFFICIAL DECLARATION OF SHEIKS GENDER BY NINTENDO:]

“The definitive answer is that Sheik is a woman — simply Zelda in a different outfit.” - Bill Trinen, Nintendo of America.

Nintendo has finally given us a official statement of Sheiks gender.

Its not like its the first time though.

Some people keep complaining they won't believe it until someone more "official" saids it. When in fact like i stated before, even Eijin Aonuma has said Sheik is a female as well:

"We recently received information from a survey conducted in the US that indicated that, among our female characters, users had a preference for those that were more on the independent side, such as Sheik and Tetra."

Anyone who goes against these 2 official statement are just simply in denial. You are going against Nintendo's facts.

Just as a note Bill Trinen is an interpreter for Shigeru Miyamoto and works as a Marketing Manager for Nintendo of America.

He knows what he is talking about and would only say something Shigeru would approve of completely.
