Anime North 2008
I went to a convention yesterday. It was the biggest nerd magnet ever. There I realized I don't fit in with nerds/geeks. Those television stereotypes actually exist.
Volunteers who probably didn't know what to dress as, had Klingon foreheads stuck on. They're not exactly Anime related, are they? There were quite a few boys dressed as girl characters mostly from Sailor Moon as if it was an original idea. As for the girls, well, let's just say a lot of them sure aren't ashamed of their celulite.
My friends and I did not dress up as anything. I'm not that kind of girl.
I'm not all that into Anime. I've always felt I was completely "whitewashed", but maybe I just stayed away because of underlying resentment from Asian stereotyping. (which also kept me from the need to overachieve) I think I'm over it now.
Well, I can't go anywhere without buying a souvenir of some sort, so I did my my first manga books, Super Mario merchandise and doodles straight from the artist who drew some really cute cartoon characters such as Hello Kitty, angry, pointing two guns at you. Now thats got me written all over it.
We also sat in on a few panels. I thought they were boring. I don't enjoy listening to nerd bitch and moan about cartoons. There was also this panel called Iron Smut where we make up dirty homoerotic stories from a random selection of people, places and things. Well, it was the Yaoi building or something so everything was about "boy love". Surprising, there were a lot of girls there. I know some guys like girl on girl action, but girls like boy on boy?
Ok, well, I just wanted to point out that watching all these rather unattractive girls act out gay male sex scenes was sooooooooo uncomfortable. I'm not one to judge, but, my god, they weren't pretty. Out of the 30 in the room max, 5 were remotely attractive and my friends were cute, mind you.
I'm rambling again. I'm not ready for real world. where fat girls hump eachother as men.
